Soul loss is when a piece of our soul or psyche flees - a part of us checks out. This happens when a person suffers minor or major trauma in their life, like a loss of a loved one, abuse, a violet shock or bitter disappointment. As a survival mechanism, that part of us can not handle the pain. This produces the phenomenon that psychologists call dissociation and shamans call soul loss.

For those who have lost parts of themselves knowingly or unknowingly, "tremendous amounts of psychic energy" is unconsciously spent looking for the lost parts. Soul retrieval is a shamanic tool that retrieves the fragmented parts of the soul.
Common symptoms of soul loss include:
chronic fatigue; emotional numbness; chronic depression; spaciness; addictive behaviors; low self-esteem; inability to let go of past situations or people no longer in your life; dissociation and multiple personality disorder; obesity or unexplained weight gain; abusive behaviors; absence of dream recall; recurring dreams of locations from earlier life, or of a self separate from your present self.
